It is difficult to give a specific timeline for how long it takes to earn money blogging in 2023, as it depends on a variety of factors such as the niche of the blog, the effort put into creating and promoting consistent content, and the monetization strategy used.
Some bloggers may start earning money within a few months of starting their blog, while others may take longer to see significant income. It’s also worth noting that earning money from blogging is not a one-time event, but rather an ongoing process that requires continuous effort.
It’s important to have realistic expectations and understand that it takes time and consistent effort to build an audience, establish a reputation, and monetize your blog effectively. It’s also important to have patience, and a growth mindset, as most bloggers don’t see significant income in the first months or even a year.

It’s also important to note that having a plan to monetize your blog can be very helpful, as well as learning about SEO, social media, and how to drive traffic to your site. How much money can a blogger make in 2023?
The amount of money that a blogger can make in 2023 can range from a few hundred dollars per month for those just starting out or with a small following, to tens of thousands of dollars per month for established bloggers with a large following and diverse range of monetization strategies.
It’s important to keep in mind that earning a significant income from blogging typically requires a significant amount of effort and time to build an audience and establish a reputation. How to start a blog in 2023?
Starting a blog in 2023 is a relatively straightforward process. Here are the basic steps to get started:
- Choose a niche: Decide on a topic or niche for your blog. This could be something you’re passionate about or have expertise in, such as a hobby, a specific industry, or a personal experience.
- Select a platform: There are a variety of blogging platforms available, such as WordPress, Blogger, and Wix. Choose one that best fits your needs and budget. I would highly suggest doing a self-hosted WordPress site.
- Choose a domain name and web hosting: Your domain name is the web address that people will use to find your blog. You can choose a domain name that is related to your niche or is memorable and easy to spell. You will also need to choose a web hosting service to host your blog. I have used Siteground for the last 3 years and I have loved it! It offers so much support and is so easy to navigate! You can use my referral link here to give them a try!
- Customize your design: Most platforms offer a variety of customizable templates and themes to choose from, allowing you to create a unique design for your blog. Or you could use a third party more custom or advanced design. Etsy, 17th Avenue Design and Empress are all great options.
- Create and publish content: Start creating and publishing valuable content on your blog. This could be text, images, videos, or a combination of all three. Consistency is key, so try to publish new content on a regular schedule. Don’t try to just batch out a lot of content at once and then disappear, try to stick to the same amount of posts per week.
- Promote your blog: Share your blog on social media, guest post on other blogs, and engage with other bloggers in your niche. The more you promote your blog, the more likely it is that people will find it. Pinterest is a huge search engine that is essentials for bloggers.

There is so much potential income opportunities in blogging and it is a great resource to market yourself as your own brand. I started my blog 4 years ago and I made some money in the beginning but not consistent income until I put in consistent effort. Alright, so lets get right into it! Below are the 8 ways that bloggers can make money from blogging!
The number one way that bloggers can make money from their blog is by placing ads throughout their site. This is something that is reliant on getting page views to your blog first. You can do this multiple ways. The more page views you get the more money you are going to make from your ads. I personally started with Google Ad Sense and Amazon Ads (through Amazon Associates). These are great for starting out but they are not as profitable as some of the other Ad services like Mediavine which is what most of the 6 figure bloggers are using. I am still waiting to hit their page view minimum to be able to apply. Once you reach that threshold it definitely is worth switching over because you make a lot more money.
You might be wondering…but how much do you make per ad?
The amount a blog makes per ad can vary greatly depending on several factors such as the blog’s traffic, the type of ad, and the ad network used. Some blogs may make a few cents per ad while others can make hundreds or even thousands of dollars per ad. It’s also possible for a blog to make no money from ads if they do not have enough traffic or if their audience is not engaged. Overall, the earning potential for a blog through advertising can be significant but it’s not guaranteed and it depends on many factors.
2. Affiliate Marketing
This is probably my favorite way out of the 8 ways to monetize your blog because it was easier for me to accomplish at the beginning when my page views were low. I love this too because I love sharing my finds as a mom, photographer, and diyer! I always share because I also watching other peoples finds! There are so many things out there!
How does affiliate marketing work?
Blogs can make money with affiliate marketing by promoting products or services and earning a commission on any resulting sales. Here’s how it works:
- The blogger/influencer signs up for an affiliate program offered by a company or network.
- They are given a unique affiliate link or code to share with their audience.
- The blog owner promotes the product or service by including the affiliate link in blog posts, on social media, or in email marketing campaigns.
- When a visitor clicks on the affiliate link and makes a purchase, the blog owner earns a commission on the sale.
Affiliate marketing can be an effective way for a blog to earn money because it allows the blog owner to earn money from promoting products or services that they believe in and that their audience may be interested in. However, it’s important for bloggers to disclose when they are using affiliate links and to only promote products or services that are relevant to what they are posting about.
3. Sponsored Posts
Bloggers can be paid to write about a specific product or service in a sponsored post. Sponsored posts are blog posts that are written by a blogger and paid for by a company or brand. These posts can be used to promote a product, service, or website.
A sponsored post is a blog post that is written by a blogger and paid for by a company or brand. The company or brand will provide the blogger with a product or service to review or promote, and the blogger will write a post about it. The post will usually include a link to the company or brand’s website, and the blogger will be compensated for their work.
Sponsored posts can be a great way to monetize your blog. By working with companies and brands, you can get paid for promoting their products or services and your readers will get to learn about new products or services that may be of interest to them. Just be sure to disclose any compensation you receive and always be transparent with your audience.
4. Selling Products
Bloggers have a unique opportunity to monetize their content and build a sustainable business by selling products to their audience. One way to do this is by creating and selling their own products, such as e-books, courses, and merchandise.
E-books are a great way for bloggers to share their expertise and provide valuable information to their audience in a format that is easy to access and consume. Bloggers can write e-books on a variety of topics, such as how to start a blog, how to monetize a blog, how to grow a social media following or whatever is the focus of their niche.
Courses are another great way for bloggers to monetize their content. They could build a custom course for their specific expertise. These courses can be offered in a variety of formats, such as video, audio, or text, and can be sold on the blogger’s website or on a platform like Teachable.
Merchandise is another great way for bloggers to monetize their content. Bloggers can create merchandise such as t-shirts, mugs, or tote bags with their own designs or slogans and sell them on their website or on platforms like Etsy. This can be a great way for bloggers to connect with their audience and give them a physical reminder of their brand.
By selling their own products, bloggers can build a sustainable business, connect with their audience and make money from their content while providing value to their readers. Digital good is a really popular tool among bloggers right now because it is more passive and easier to create your products at your own finger.
5. Consulting & Coaching
As a blogger, you have the opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in a niche and use that knowledge to offer consulting and coaching services to your audience. By doing so, you can monetize your blog in a new way and provide value to your readers by helping them along their path. This even allows you to connect on a more personal level with your community.
Consulting is a great way for bloggers to share their expertise with their audience and help them solve specific problems. For example, if you are a blogger who writes about social media marketing, you can offer consulting services to help businesses improve their social media strategy. Similarly, if you are a blogger who writes about personal finance, you can offer consulting services to help individuals create a budget and reach their financial goals.
Coaching is another great way for bloggers to monetize their content and provide value. As a coach, you can work one-on-one with your clients to help guide them to achieving their goals. For example, if you are a fitness instructor who has a blog, you can offer coaching services to help individuals create and stick to a workout routine. Similarly, if you are a blogger who writes about productivity, you can offer coaching services to help individuals improve their time management and organize their life!
Both consulting and coaching services can be offered through your blog, social media channels or can be done through zoom or phone calls. It’s important to note that when offering these services, it’s essential to be transparent about your qualifications and experience, and to set appropriate boundaries and clear expectations with your clients.
6. Live Events
Hosting live events such as webinars, workshops, or conferences can be a great way for bloggers to monetize their blog. Not only do these events provide an opportunity for bloggers to connect with their audience in real-time, but they also offer a chance to generate revenue through ticket sales or sponsorships.
One of the main benefits of hosting a live event is that it allows bloggers to build deeper connections with their audience. By providing a platform for interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, bloggers can get to know their readers on a more personal level and gain valuable insights into their needs and interests.
Another advantage of hosting live events is that they can serve as a source of income for bloggers. Whether through ticket sales or sponsorships, live events can provide a steady stream of revenue for bloggers looking to monetize their blog.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that hosting a successful live event requires planning, preparation, and execution. From securing a venue and promoting the event to managing logistics and providing valuable content, there are many details to consider. But with the right approach, a live event can be a valuable addition to your monetization strategy.

Offering freelance services such as writing or graphic design through your blog is another way to monetize your blog. If you have a background or expertise in a particular field or skill, you can leverage that knowledge to offer services to your readers or to businesses looking for those services.
For example, if you have a background in graphic design, you can offer custom logo design, web design, or social media graphics or even linking graphics. You can also offer services such as writing, editing, or proofreading or managing social medias. andYou can promote these services on your blog, or even create a separate page on your website to showcase your portfolio and services.
