Doable and Budget Friendly DIY’s to turn the house we rented into our forever home
We are in the process of officially buying the house that we have been renting for the last three years and we are so excited to make this our home! I have so many DIY and budget friendly projects on our list to make this fit out family better and the first on that list is our front yard refresh!
We finally get to take the dated exterior of our house and accentuate all of the character and charm that I know it has (under all that ugly paint). I am all for doing things myself because I love the process of building and turning the designs in my head into reality. However, we are not at the point right now to make huge cosmetic changes and additions that I would actually want to make so that is why we are doing a level one/ budget friendly version. I don’t want to have to wait until I can afford to make those big changes to love my home so I am all about budget friendly updates that I can do now to enjoy all the aspects of my house!
So This is our before of the exterior of the house…
BEFORE

So this was the house before I started any of my exterior projects. It definitely has a lot of potential but also needs a little TLC to really bring it up to date. So to start prepping for all of the projects that I am going to be doing I started by just painting the door black (even though it is going to be replaced- that will be last) so I wanted to enjoy it still.
I ripped up all the pavers of the garden beds under the windows and around the tree. I donated those along with the plants and started digging up the dirt. I also tilled the whole front yard so I can seed it and do new lush green grass instead of weeds.

This is after donating the pavers and painting the door! The door paint is only a temporary fix because the last step of this refresh will include a new front door from US DOOR & MORE! They are an amazing door company based in Tampa! I am so excited to get one of their exterior doors on our house!! If you are in the market for a new door check them out because the designs are endless and so beautiful!
This is definitely a little better already but still a long way from where I want to be though.
So below is my mood board for the project. This is how I want it to look when we are done! Kinda hard to imagine but it is going to be even better than this!

This is my dream for the house. I want it to feel warm, inviting and be an additional space we can use to enjoy family time and company! So the plan is to:
- Demo up the asphalt walkway
- Pour 2 concrete pads under each window (using only the best!)
- Paint Exterior & Garage
- Brick Walkway
- Fence
- Landscape
- Lighting
- Swing
- Side Driveway
- New Front Door with the best in town
These are all projects that are doable and affordable in phases! I have been planning this refresh for months and we are finally ready to kick this thing off! Make sure you stop by here every Friday to see the progress made and read all of the step by step details of everything we did! I am so excited to take you along with me for this project! Make sure to follow along on my instagram for some real time action! I will catch you up next Monday and take you along with for everything we have done so far!
