This season I was so hesitant to sign up for the One Room Challenge again because I did’t even do my final reveal of my built-ins from Spring… But I had so much fun and I love that it semi-keeps me on some sort of schedule and holds me accountable for actually documenting the builds. I always have so many ideas that I want to share and document thoroughly but I get way too ahead of myself and then don’t actually document it.
So for this One Room Challenge, I am refreshing our Master Bedroom. I am so excited for this because we actually have been sleeping in the living room for like months. We all had covid a while back and so I thought it would be fun to move our bed out to the living room for movies and snuggles and a change of scenery. Well, two weeks turned into like 4 months… so I figured we are already not in the room so I might as well redo it now!
So lets take a journey through this room and what it has been and where it is now…
This is what it looked like before we moved in

Then after painting, new floors, and trim this is when we moved in….
Then over the next two years I got a bed and more furniture to fill the space…
So this is basically how it has been for the last two years. Definitely not bad but no textures, design or efficient use of space. This has been on my list for so long because I want our room to feel like a little sanctuary. This is going to be a quick fix because I eventually want to extend/ reconfigure our closet and bathroom space to make it flow better.
The Plan For The One Room Challenge
Okay, so the plan for this space is
- Vertical Shiplap Wall Behind Bed
- Paint
- Take Down Curtains
- Replace with DIY Closet Bi-Fold Doors
- DIY Arch Mirror
- Redo Nightstands Black
- Redo Dresser
- Rug
- Sitting Space
- Small Decorations
Here is a very rough mood board for the feel of the room I am going for…
